Your KA journey begins in Admissions.
Every family is different and at Kelvinside Academy, we aim to make the admissions process as informative as possible.
At Kelvinside Academy, we offer an enriching and supportive environment, which empowers our girls and boys to achieve their potential academically, whilst developing into confident and well-rounded individuals. We are looking for bright, curious, motivated children who have a commitment to academic and personal development.
Taster Days can be arranged throughout the year
Choosing a school for your child is a huge decision with many different motivating factors. Our Admissions Team will be pleased to guide you every step of the way. Your main point of contact will be Admissions Registrar, Lynda Andonovic. Also on hand to help is Kerry Bottomley, Director of Admissions and Communications. Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you have along the way.
Whilst the majority of new pupils to the School have no direct connection with Kelvinside Academy, priority is given to siblings of current pupils and children of Academicals.

- Stage 2: Come for a visit
Open Day is usually held in October.
Our pupils are proud of their School and love to show visitors round at Open Day. This gives a real insight into what’s on offer at Kelvinside Academy and what sets us apart from other schools.
This is a fun day offering the chance to meet many of our pupils, teachers and parents as well as enjoying a cup of tea with the Rector and members of the Senior Leadership Team after your school tour.
We believe it is also very important for families to see around our school on a normal school day. A tour with our Rector, Ian Munro, is the best way for parents and children to experience our family ethos, appreciate the very favourable teacher to pupil ratio and gain a true understanding of life at Kelvinside Academy.
Dependent upon the age of your child, the admissions visit involves a tour and meeting with the Rector, Head of Junior School or Head of Nursery and time for questions with the Admissions Registrar.
- Stage 3: Application form
If you wish to apply for a place, we need you to tell us about your child and your family. To do that, we ask that you complete an application form. We automatically update you with information on entrance assessments and open days. There is a £30 application fee for each application made. No entrance assessment may be undertaken until a completed application form and application fee of £30 has been received.
- Stage 4: Taster Days
We encourage all applicants to Junior and Senior School to have a Taster Day at School where they join a class for the day. They also sit the assessment papers during their time with us. The Taster Day can be designed to reflect the needs and interests of your child and is by far the best way to experience first-hand what a KA school day entails. Having the opportunity to meet some possible future classmates and teachers can be a real benefit to prospective pupils.
- Stage 5: Assessment
Assessment arrangements vary for each year group – please go to the stage relevant to the chosen entry level for your child.
