International pupils are a valuable addition to our school community and we are pleased to welcome children from all over the world.
We understand that selecting a school, when you are overseas, bring its own challenges, which is why we work hard to ensure overseas pupils and parents have all the information needed to make the correct decision.
We are happy to welcome visits from international families, however, we realise this is not always an option. Therefore we are happy to host a visit from a friend or relative you may have lived in the UK.
We can also use video Skype calls to speak to families directly and answer any questions they may have.
We also welcome older children who may want to join us short term to improve their English and gain life experience. We find it is particularly popular with European children to take a year out of their education system to spend it here at Kelvinside Academy. This can prove very beneficial when applying for university. Our Homestay Programme makes this possible for pupils aged 16-18 years.
Choosing to study in the UK can be daunting, especially when you are so far away, however, we can offer support and advice along the way to make the process as easy as possible.
Kelvinside Academy Homestay
We believe one of our fundamental strengths is our diverse pupil body and, with almost 20 nationalities represented, it is genuinely exciting, stimulating and enlightening to be part of such a rich cultural mix. International pupils are a huge part of the Kelvinside Academy community and all our pupils benefit from mixing with so many different nationalities.
The KA Homestay Network affords the opportunity of a Kelvinside education to international pupils aged 16-18 years. Our Homestay families welcome international pupils into their home during term time, providing a safe and welcoming ‘home from home’ environment.
We offer guardianship through our Homestay partner ‘Academic Families’ link to academicfamilies.com/index.php/en/ who support international pupils to ensure their Scottish school days are happy and successful. We match pupils with a host family connected to the School, allowing for a strong and positive relationship to develop between Homestay families and international pupils.
The experience of studying abroad and staying with a Scottish family allows pupils to become fluent in English, opens their minds to another culture, make lifelong friendships and learn more about themselves and the world around them. It provides international pupils with an outstanding preparation for a university in the UK or beyond.
For Homestay fees and more information see our Homestay Prospectus.
