Where is NuVu / KA located?

The NuVu / KA camp takes place at Kelvinside Academy in Glasgow’s West End. Our address is: 33 Kirklee Road, Glasgow G12 0SW

How can I get to NuVu / KA?

Kelvinside Academy is a 10-minute walk from both Hyndland Station and Hillhead, the nearest Glasgow Underground Station.  It is only a 2-minute walk from the nearest bus stop. 

Is there parking?

There is ample free street parking right outside the school

What are the hours of the program?

The studio day begins at 9:00 am and ends at 4:30 pm with a one-hour lunch break. 

What is the staff-to-pupil ratio?

NuVu’s staff-to-pupil ratio is approximately 1-to-6.

Can pupils arrive early and stay late?

Pupils may arrive as early as 8:30am. No advance notice is required. If pupils would like to work on their projects after regular studio hours, they may stay at NuVu until 5:15pm. There is no additional charge for this extra hour. This is optional work time and is unsupervised.

Will there be lunch?

A catered lunch will be provided daily. The cost of lunch is covered in the tuition fee. Your child may bring their own lunch, especially if they have any special food needs or preferences. Pupils are not allowed to leave NuVu during lunch.  

What equipment do the pupils need to bring?

Pupils are required to bring their own laptop to the program each day and taken back home at the end of the day. Pupils are encouraged to bring an unlined sketchbook and writing utensils (pencils or pens). NuVu will supply all equipment, tools and supplies needed by pupils in each Studio.

What is the recommended attire?

Pupils should dress in comfortable attire – it is preferred that they wear the camp t-shirt and sweatshirt provided on the final day of the studio session. Pupils should wear closed-toe shoes (no flip-flops). 

Will my 11 year old be working with 17 year olds?

Our studios are designed with a particular age range in mind and we are often able to split larger groups into smaller groups based on their age range. Usually the age span in a group working with one specific tutor is no more than 2 to 3 years.

My child will not be eleven years old at the start of the camp - can they still attend?

We can only welcome children into our camp who will be eleven by the first day of the course.  Unfortunately we do not have any flexibility for this particular limit.

Will I get to see what my child is doing?

Parents are invited to a showcase on the final day of the camp. Details will be made available in the information you receive before camp. You are always welcome to talk to tutors at the end of the camp.

Are there any discounts available?

There is a family discount of 5% available for second or subsequent children.

There is a 10% discount for Kelvinside Academy and Craigholme School pupils.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit and Debit Cards
We accept any credit or debit card with a MasterCard or Visa logo.


Cheques
We also accept cheques payable to Kelvinside Academy.
 

Can I cancel my course for a refund?

The deposit of £250 is non-refundable.

After the balance is paid no refunds will be issued and bookings cancelled will not be reimbursed.

Fees are non-returnable for students arriving late, leaving early or missing a day of camp (whether on account of illness or any other cause).  If the camp has been booked, then the full fees are payable.
