The Annual Academical Dinner

The Annual Academical Dinner is being held on Friday 20 March 2026 in Oran Mor. Dress Code for the evening is black tie with a start time of 6.30pm for 7pm and carriages at midnight. Last year’s fantastic dinner welcomed over 230 Academicals from the Classes of 1964 through to 2024. We would be delighted to see you at the 2026 Dinner.

Reunions

We are always delighted to help you reconnect with old school friends either directly or by attending regular events throughout the year. The Annual Academical Dinner is also a fantastic opportunity to connect with former pupils from around the globe. These events are a wonderful opportunity to catch up with old friends, share memories, tour the School and reminisce about glory days on the “Field of Dreams” or on the Hockey pitch.

Our next Reunions will be held on Friday 20 March with a tour of the School followed by the Academical Dinner in the evening. Further details can be obtained by contacting our Development Manager, Elaine Solman.

London Section Annual Dinner 2026

The Annual London Section Dinner will be held on Thursday 5 November 2026 in the Caledonian Club, 9 Halkin Street, Belgravia, London SW1X 7DR. It is a fantastic opportunity for Academicals living in the South East to come together and enjoy great company and find out about the events that take place throughout the year. Business Breakfasts

To date our Breakfast speakers have included British political journalist Laura Kuenssberg, Colin Neill (1972), former Director at Diageo, Gareth Gaston (1992), Vice President, Virtual Banking of U.S. Bank, John Boyle, Entrepreneur and the late Peter C Brown, Former Scotland Rugby Captain. Our most recent Breakfast Speaker was Chief Executive of the Scottish Council of Independent Schools, Lorraine Davidson.

The next breakfast event is being held on Friday 28 November at Balgray where our speaker will be Prof Lorne Crerar (1972)

Lorne left Kelvinside Academy in 1972 and graduated as best law student of his year at Glasgow University in 1976 . He is the founding Partner and currently Chairman of one of Scotland’s largest Law Firms,  Harper Macleod.  Lorne has a long history with Rugby as a player ,referee and as Head of Discipline for 6Nations and European Rugby . He officiated at four world cups and the Rio Olympics .He is currently Chairman of Scottish Rugby Union. Lorne has held various public appointments most recently as Chair of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.  He is also the architect of the Home Report system that reformed the buying and selling process of the house buying system in Scotland. He was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2019 Honours list for “economic and community development in Scotland.

Saturday Sport

We have a full calendar of fantastic events throughout the year and we would also be delighted to see you and your family at Balgray on a Saturday morning to support our pupils when they are playing Cricket, Hockey or Rugby. This is a great social occasion with our wonderful PTA supplying breakfast rolls and hot drinks in the Miller Drummond Suite.

Junior Committee Events

The Junior Committee will be planning two annual events, one to be held at GHK and one to be held at Balgray. We will be in touch as soon as the dates have been agreed.

Development Jim Taylor MBE Memorial Fund
In memory of Jim, we would like to create a lasting legacy, which would involve Sports Scholarships for our pupils and a pitch at Balgray in his name.
