Beyond the Classroom

Education encompasses more than academic achievement, so at Kelvinside we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities designed to develop creative, social, and physical skills.

Something for everyone

We strive to offer something for everyone, from chess to debating, and modern dance to gardening. After-school clubs, particularly Music and Sport, significantly enhance children’s skills and competitive spirit.

As they progress to Upper Primary, nearly all pupils represent the school in sports like rugby, hockey, and handball.

From Primary 2 onwards, children can join the choir and participate in music groups like the Guitar Group or Junior Orchestra.

Additionally, our Charities Committee recently raised over £5,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind, funding the training of two guide dog puppies.

Our lunchtime and after school programme offers a wide range of activities such as:

  • Chess
  • Gardening
  • Debating
  • Minecraft
  • Creative writing
  • Cross-country
  • Tennis
  • Judo
  • Football
  • Bikeability
  • News film-making

MInerva Challenge

Education in its broadest sense is not just about academic achievement, so we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities designed to develop creative, social, cognitive and physical skills.

We also offers pupils the chance to undertake The Minerva Challenge, a KA award scheme endorsed by our patron, wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan.  It involves similar character building activities to the Duke of Edinburgh Award but at an age appropriate level, helping children build confidence and open doors to new experiences.
