Open Morning 24 April

We host several Open Events throughout the year. Our Open Mornings are the perfect opportunity for prospective pupils and their families to tour the Junior & Senior School, meet our teachers and pupils, and learn more about what makes Kelvinside Academy unique.

The KA Way

We all know by now that not all young people learn the same way. What’s already happening at Kelvinside Academy is an example of what can be possible when teaching is more centred around skills and practical experience.

Successful young adults need to be creative, collaborative researchers who can apply knowledge to solving problems that will increase business and commercial success.
Pupils need a flexible learning environment where they can develop the skills needed to become experts, innovators and entrepreneurs.

As the power, scope, and ease of using AI improves with every passing week; it would be educational malpractice to ignore what this means for your children and their employability. The world of work has changed immeasurably and schools must break the cycle of laser focus on grades and university alone and embrace diversification and new methods that better prepare young people for what comes next – be it industry, entrepreneurship, technology, sport, music, or wherever they excel.

What you can expect

At Kelvinside Academy, we are able to make progressive choices and pilot alternative methods that pave the way for true innovation in all forms of education. At our Open Mornings, you’ll get a unique opportunity to meet the staff and pupils that make KA a great place to grow and learn.
  • Meet our Senior pupils

One of our Senior pupils will show you round and be delighted to share their personal experience of life at Kelvinside Academy.

  • Meet our staff

Each department will be ready to introduce you to what learning looks like in their subjects, and provide a window into the unique pupil and teacher relationships that are fostered here.

  • Chat with Senior Leadership

Our Senior Leadership and Admissions teams will be on hand to answer any questions you have over a cup of tea, and will share more about what we do differently at KA.

  • INFO FOR FERNHILL SCHOOL FAMILIES

We are saddened by the news of Fernhill School’s closure and we extend our heartfelt sympathy to its pupils, families and staff at this uncertain time. If you’re facing an unexpected move, we’re here to support you. Please call our Admissions team on 0141 357 3376 (ext 2) to organise a visit as soon as possible and explore what a move to KA could look like.

    HOW WE CAN SUPPORT

Places available/entry points – We can offer places from J1-S5 for immediate entry.

Academic support – We can fully support pupils in their exam phase with both National 5 and Higher subjects.

Fees – To remove any additional pressure at what is already a difficult time, we propose that there will be no fees charged from now until the end of the 2025/26 session. Fee payments would then begin from the new term in August 2026.

Bursary Support – Continuing existing Bursary support will be considered on an individual basis, but we are happy to discuss this directly with families.

Bus Transport – There are places available on our school bus routes.
