After four years as the school’s Deputy Rector, The Board of Governors has named Daniel Wyatt as Rector of Kelvinside Academy. This follows the appointment of Ian Munro as the new Rector of Dollar Academy.

Mr Wyatt has the unanimous support of the Board and also of the Senior Leadership Team. In his new role, Mr Wyatt will lead the school into an exciting era, which will include the launch of Scotland’s first innovation school.

Mr Wyatt and Mr Munro will now operate a handover period through to the end of the academic year.

We are extremely proud of the pioneering and exciting new initiatives that Mr Munro has introduced and overseen during his three years as head of our School.  He has guided Kelvinside Academy along new and dynamic paths, building on the School’s distinguished reputation as an establishment that pushes boundaries and leads the educational agenda in the UK.

Mr Wyatt has been Deputy Rector at Kelvinside since August 2015, and has established a reputation for outstanding pastoral and moral leadership alongside dedicated care of all our pupils.

Mr Wyatt said: “I’m incredibly proud to be named as Rector of this prestigious school. The School’s facilities and resources are exceptional. What really excites me is the opportunity to continue to work with all the people who make the School such a special place.

“The pupils, teachers and board members all share my drive and ambition to make the school the best it can be. I look forward to working alongside our incredibly driven Senior Leadership Team to continue to do everything we can to provide the best possible education and environment for the exceptional young people who attend our School now, and who will join in the future.”

Donald Wilson, The Chairman of Governors, said: “Nobody knows Kelvinside Academy better than Mr Wyatt. He has proven himself to be a respected, dedicated, innovative and inspirational leader during his four years at the school. That’s why I know our pupils, parents and staff will share my excitement at this appointment.

“I look forward to working closely with our new Rector during what will be a transformative period for the school, as we continue our journey to disrupt and transform the education system in Scotland and beyond.”

“We wish our departing Rector Ian Munro all the very best in his new role as Rector at Dollar Academy, and thank him for his contribution to the school.
