Glasgow University Outdoor Learning Project
June 3rd 2016
Junior 5 children were delighted to receive certificates marking their participation in a joint research project with Glasgow University Psychology Department. The children helped investigate the benefits of outdoor learning by taking part in a series of lessons on medieval history, staging their own fair in the playground and building castles in the nearby Children's Wood.
Psychologists Dr Niamh Stack and Derick Moore led a lively question and answer session with pupils, who discovered that being out of doors had significantly enhanced their feelings of well-being, even when the weather was not quite as glorious as in the photograph!
